About Jacci Erney

For more than 20 years, Jacci Erney has worked in education supporting students, families, and educators through meaningful, relationship-centered technology integration. Her work focuses on helping schools create safe, inclusive, and empowering digital learning environments — particularly for families who may face barriers to technology access, digital literacy, or online safety support.

Jacci serves as a Technology Integration Specialist and is an Amazon Future Engineer Teacher Ambassador. Throughout her career, she has led professional development, designed family-centered computer science outreach initiatives, and collaborated with schools and community organizations to expand equitable access to technology education.

Why Jacci Created the Toolkit

The Family Digital Empowerment Toolkit grew from this work and from listening to families who wanted practical, trustworthy support navigating technology, online safety, and their children’s learning. It brings together resources that help caregivers build confidence, access essential tools and training, and become safe, skilled, and connected digital role models.

The toolkit combines:

• Community partnership ideas

• Computer science outreach supports

• Research-informed guidance for schools and organizations

The project is designed to help educators, school leaders, nonprofits, and community partners build stronger connections with families while supporting student safety, opportunity, and digital well-being.

Jacci’s work has been featured in presentations and collaborations connected to the Virginia Department of Education, the Computer Science Teachers Association, and family-centered technology initiatives across Virginia.
